Banyon Power, founded in 2022, builds enabling technologies that accelerate the transition to electric vehicles. For drivers, that means affordable, code-compliant charging at home. For utilities, it means precision EV charge management that reduces grid stress — and the capital investment that grid stress eventually forces.
Getting there required software. Managed charging only works if every actor in the chain has a surface to work through: the installer commissioning hardware in a garage, the homeowner setting a schedule, the operations team watching for faults, and the utility that needs visibility into what all of it is doing to the local network. Banyon Power needed that as one coherent platform, complete enough to run those workflows for real, ahead of its commercial launch.

SOLUTION
Design First, Then Build the Whole Stack
The engagement opened with a technical workshop rather than a sprint. Codibly and Banyon Power used it to turn the product vision into a solution architecture and a delivery backlog, so the first line of production code answered a decision that had already been made. That workshop is what made the rest of the delivery fast.
From there, Codibly led development of the full platform through an agile delivery. Installers got a commissioning flow that runs from login through hardware registration and configuration of the Balance Box and charging stations. Homeowners got an app for account setup, configuration, charging schedules, session summaries and notifications. The charging workflow itself handles automated schedules, real-time events, charging logic and historical session views. Operations and utility teams got admin dashboards covering utility charging management, fault tracking and charging sessions.
Underneath all of it: CI/CD pipelines across backend, admin panel and mobile deployment; security and role-based access control applied to both the admin surface and the APIs; and an AWS Cloud and IoT Core architecture that keeps communication with connected devices efficient and secure as the fleet grows.

Managed charging is the practice of shaping when and how fast electric vehicles charge, rather than letting every vehicle draw power the moment it plugs in. Shifting charging into off-peak hours flattens local demand peaks, which is what lets a utility defer network reinforcement. It requires software on both sides: something the driver controls, and something the utility can see and influence.
At minimum, four surfaces. An installer flow for registering and configuring hardware on site. A homeowner app for account setup, schedules and session history. A charging engine that executes schedules and reacts to events in real time. And an administrative layer where operations and utility teams manage charging, track faults and review sessions. Because the expensive mistakes in platform work are architectural, and they are cheapest to fix before any code exists. A workshop converts a product vision into a solution architecture and a prioritised backlog, so the delivery team starts from decisions rather than open questions. On this project it is what allowed the build to move quickly afterwards.
A cluster of unmanaged home chargers on one distribution transformer is a load problem the utility pays for. Software that can move that charging in time turns the same cluster into a manageable, and eventually dispatchable, resource. That is why visibility into charging behaviour is a platform requirement rather than a reporting nicety.
