IEEE 1547 (IEEE 2030.5) in Texas: Accelerate Your Compliance & Market Entry
Get to market faster and participate in Texas’s largest grid modernization initiatives, including the ERCOT ADER program.

The Challenge in Texas
- AEP Texas is compliant now: AEP Texas has adopted the IEEE 1547-2018 standard for interconnection, effective January 1, 2024, setting a precedent for the entire state. To be approved for interconnection in AEP’s territory, your inverters must be certified to this new standard, which includes specific performance capabilities.
- Statewide changes are imminent: The Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT) is finalizing new DER interconnection rules under Project No. 54233. This statewide effort will establish standardized compliance as a uniform requirement, prompting DERs to adapt their policies to meet the evolving needs of the grid.
- The protocol paradox: Within the IEEE 1547 standard, there is a key requirement (Clause 10) for communication protocols. Your products must support at least one of three options: DNP3, SunSpec Modbus, or IEEE 2030.5. While any of the three can get you compliant, the choice you make now will impact your ability to participate in Texas’s most valuable grid programs later.
Codibly’s Solution: The IEEE 2030.5 Accelerator
Codibly’s IEEE 2030.5 Accelerator is a microservice-based tool designed to help DER providers, battery storage manufacturers, and grid operators comply with Smart Energy Profile 2.0 standards quickly and cost-effectively.
It’s a pre-built solution that allows you to integrate with devices like inverters and solar farms, centralizing communications to ensure all data aligns with IEEE 2030.5 in real-time.
Flexible Aggregator Design
Supports diverse energy devices under one aggregator, providing universal data mapping and reducing integration headaches.
Automated DER Program Handling
The system can schedule events, manage capacity constraints, and resolve conflicting grid-service requests automatically, ensuring your assets follow the correct priority set by grid operators.
Robust Communication & Security
The accelerator is built to handle high-volume data and normalizes “unusual” device statuses to ensure they align with IEEE 2030.5’s detailed requirements.
Accelerated Compliance
Our solution is pre-tested with Quality Logic tools, guaranteeing faster certification cycles, reduced risk, and simpler regulatory sign-off.
