- AEP Texas is compliant now: AEP Texas has adopted the IEEE 1547-2018 standard for interconnection, effective January 1, 2024, setting a precedent for the entire state. To be approved for interconnection in AEP’s territory, your inverters must be certified to this new standard, which includes specific performance capabilities.
- Statewide changes are imminent: The Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT) is finalizing new DER interconnection rules under Project No. 54233. This statewide effort will establish standardized compliance as a uniform requirement, prompting DERs to adapt their policies to meet the evolving needs of the grid.
- The protocol paradox: Within the IEEE 1547 standard, there is a key requirement (Clause 10) for communication protocols. Your products must support at least one of three options: DNP3, SunSpec Modbus, or IEEE 2030.5.
